Illusive Networks Extends Cyber Protection to OT Attack Surfaces

Innovative cyber defense leader extends deception families to include high-risk OT infrastructure, enabling early attack detection and informed and rapid response

NEW YORK and TEL AVIV, Israel — November 19, 2019 — Illusive Networks®, the leader in deception-based cyber defense solutions, today announced new capabilities in the Illusive Platform that protect OT (operational technology) devices and industrial control systems. Enterprises can now easily deploy advanced emulations of OT infrastructure, as well as deceptive data-based endpoint lures leading to them, that fool attackers into engagement and immediately warn organizations about an unauthorized presence on OT.

Operational Technology (OT) systems are now frequently targeted by adversaries, including nation-states, with dire results. Due to several factors, including age, specialty protocols, access, network-timing concerns and more, these systems often cannot be effectively patched, monitored, or secured using traditional IT-oriented security controls and approaches.

Illusive OT Emulations offer a simple, innovative, and non-disruptive alternative by preventing attackers from reaching critical OT systems. Customizable OT emulations appear to attackers as elements that normally would exist in an OT environment, but attackers are forced to reveal themselves once they attempt to interact with these deceptive components. Defenders thus gain the upper hand, catching the culprits early in the attack cycle, while essential infrastructure continues to operate safely. Attacker interaction with the emulations also generates deep and rich forensics, enabling SOC teams to immediately halt in-progress attacks while increasing overall threat intelligence.

“Economic and effective security for operational technology and industrial control systems has been a challenge for many organizations,” said Ofer Israeli, CEO and founder of Illusive Networks. “Often these systems simply can’t be perturbed in the slightest, even to implement security controls, without incurring heavy costs or interruptions to essential services that a society needs to function properly. Illusive OT emulations paralyze attackers early in the attack life cycle, allow for OT systems to be actively defended without disruption, and expand security options for OT as attacks continue to evolve and target this essential infrastructure.”

About Illusive Networks

Illusive Networks uses next-generation deception technology to stop cyber-attacks by detecting and disarming attackers, destroying their decision-making processes, and depriving them of the means to laterally move towards attack targets. Illusive’s inescapable deceptions eliminate high-risk pathways to critical systems, force attackers to reveal themselves early in the threat lifecycle and capture real-time forensics that accelerate incident response. Built on agentless, AI-driven automation and requiring very little security team support, Illusive immediately shifts the advantage to defenders, freeing precious resources from the complicated and data-heavy approaches that overload them today.
